THEY are some of the most popular brands in the world but you are probably pronouncing them wrong.

UK brand Made By Oomph has released a list of the 30 brand names that are commonly mispronounced and how to pronounce them properly.

Everything from Nike to Nutella and Porsche to Ikea appear on the list.

Keep in mind the list is from the UK, so Australians may be surprised by some of the brands most commonly mispronounced in other parts of the world.

Here are 10 of the most common brands used in Australia that made the list.

NUTELLA: It’s the delicious hazelnut spread few can refuse but Nutella is one of the most mispronounced brands. Often pronounced ‘nuh-tell-uh’ the actual pronunciation is ‘new-tell-uh’.

IKEA: We brave crowded car parks to get there on a weekend but it seems we still can’t pronounce Swedish furniture chain Ikea properly. It’s not ‘eye-key-ah’, it’s ‘ih-key-yah’.

PORSCHE: Rapper Nelly got it right in his song Hey Porsche. It’s not ‘porsh’ but ‘por-sha’.

HYUNDAI: Australia has a love affair with Hyundai but it turns out many of us still can’t say the South Korean brand right. The brand is pronounced ‘hun-day’, not ‘hi-un-dye‘. Now that’s a tricky one!

NIKE: Everyone from Michael Jordan to Kobe Bryant and Christiano Ronaldo have put their name to the US sports brand. But did they pronounce it right? It’s not ‘nyke’ but ‘ni-key’, taking its name from the Greek goddess of victory.

MOSCHINO: Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora and Ariana Grand rock in the luxury Italian brand. Let’s hope they are saying ‘moss-key-no’, not ‘moss-chee-no’.

HERMES: If you don't know any French, this is a good start. Drop the ‘h’ people, the high-end brand is pronounced ‘air-mez’ as opposed to ‘her-meez’.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: Okay, well this one is a mouthful so you are forgiven for getting it wrong. The French designer is pronounced ‘zhon paul go-tee-ay’, not the common mispronunciation of ‘jeen paul gol-tee-er’.

VOLKSWAGEN: It’s been around since 1937 but we still can’t get the German brand right. It’s ‘vo-ks var-gun’. not ‘volks wag-en’.

ADOBE: Even computer geeks get this one wrong. It’s not ‘ah-dobe’ but ‘ah-doh-bee’.
